Fatherhood Friday: Remembering the Good Times

Visit Dad-Blogs to get more information on Fatherhood Friday. Great group of people - dads and moms alike!

I'm up way too late. I just spent a good deal of time power-cleaning our house for the arrival of my fosterdad tomorrow morning.

Normally, I just do the quick pick up before a guest arrives...but he has never seen our house nor met Peanut. This is a big deal.

And I just realized we are out of coffee. CRAP.

Anyway, to the point of the post. In honor of his visit, I would like for you to take a moment and think of the person (or people) that acted as a father figure in your life (hopefully you can find a good example and I'm not drudging up bad memories). Maybe it's a family friend, uncle, coach, adoptive parent, or foster parent.

Now...tell me what your favorite memory is with that person.

I will post my favorite memory on Monday.

I do not know my real dad but my foster dad is like my real dad since I was 11. I have to many memories to list. I love his so much and I wouldn't be the man I am if not for him. Happy FF! Check out my FF Friday post at: http://www.pbandsmellysdad.com/2009/04/what-not-to-say.html

I really didn't have any father figures that weren't my father.

Have a great time with your foster dad! Happy FF!

Oddly enough this is what my Fatherhood Friday post is all about. Not to be a post stealer or site spammer but I am not re-writing the hole thing here.

I've got a great dad, but my maternal grandfather played a big role in my development too. He's not an educated man, but he knew things about hunting and fishing (that I wasn't really interested in, other than spending time with him) as well as games, funny songs and riddles (that I was fascinated by.

He also (and my mom is still embarrassed by this) liked to teach me dirty limericks. It's the kind of thing that he and I shared that no one else got. It might not have "made me the man I am today" or whatever, but it was special, and I still love him for those dirty jokes.

My Step-Father, bought me my first "adult" bicycle...never forget the feeling of shock when he asked: "is this the bike you want"?...

I only needed my Dad. We were best friends all the way up until junior high. We did everything together.

The best date of my life was when my Dad took me to the Father /Daughter dance just before HS graduation.
