I guess I should be flattered...

...but I'm not.

Doorbell rings. It takes me a while to answer the door (I was upstairs with Peanut). Mr. Door-to-door Salesman, who was halfway down the stairs, turns around and sees me with Peanut on my hip and says "hey...are your parents home?"

Um. Wow.

I'm thinking he rides the short bus.

Enjoy it, youngun. Pretty soon you'll be having liquor store cashiers carding you just to make you feel good. :)

So how did you respond to him?

That is a tricky one! I would be flattered & milk it - that way he would just go away & leave you the hello alone, right?!

'my mom's in the shower right now' -- isn't that what you should respond with so they don't think you're home alone? ;)

Too funny. When I was 22 or 23 I got stopped in the airport. They thought I was a minor traveling alone and wondered if I wanted an escort or something. Um, no.

I responded with "I'm the RESIDENT here, if that's who you are looking for."
To which he said, "oh...well...I just...[uncomfortable pause] Let me tell you why I'm here..."
